Phase II is now operational - £70,000 available now!

Elaine Henson has recently been appointed as the Community Chest Co-ordinator. If you have a project idea (and preferably
some funding available to use as match in order to access the grant required to run your project) and it meets the requirements
of the Community Chest, then please give Elaine a call on (01322) 343527 or send an e mail to elaine.henson@dartford.gov.uk
What is the aim of the Community Chest?
To empower local community groups through:
- Accessibility of Urban Funding: offering simpler application procedures for smaller projects and forward funding a limited amount of project expenses
- Capacity Building : providing specific and targeted capacity building support to applicants and actively promoting the Community Chest Scheme within the Urban target areas
- Local Partnerships and Pilot Projects: enabling small community groups to form partnerships to put locally determined plans into action and supporting small pilot projects to test new and innovative ideas, prior to the development of larger schemes and applications to Urban or other donors.
Who can apply?
- The Community Chest will support and fund community and voluntary groups, not individuals, who aim to address their communities needs.
- The groups should be based in, or have beneficiaries from, one or more of the Urban wards :
Stone Castle; Northfleet North; Northfleet South; Central Gravesend; Westcourt; Riverside; Swanscombe; Pelham; Greenhithe
- To ensure that Community Chest funding will benefit primarily smaller groups, applicants should not have more than one paid staff member and have an income of less than £15,000.
Project Value
The Community Chest will contribute a maximum grant of £4,000 and a minimum grant of £200 to a project.
Easy Application Process
A short 4 page application form and a streamlined decision making process has been developed to ensure applications are processed within six weeks.
Up to 25% of the total community chest grant (maximum £1,000) can be forward funded if necessary.
Match funding is required but is low at 30% of total project costs. The match funding cannot come from other European Funds but can be provided through in-kind contributions such as volunteer time.
